Kuwait has updated its e-visa system, targeting the expatriates from GCC countries. The updated policies have simplified the procedure, aiming to promote tourism, business visits, and general mobility within the region. The procedure, which is now completely shifted to digital, allows applications to be processed within one to three business days, providing a quick and efficient entry.

Any individual who wishes to visit the nation now will only have to upload digital documents, including a passport biodata page, proof of GCC residency, a return ticket, accommodation details, a recent passport-size photograph, and professional credentials, if applicable.

This new move aims to modernise the immigration process while maintaining security and safeguards. However, the country has listed specific criteria to be met to acquire the visa, and those are as follows:
• Hold a valid GCC residency for more than six months
• Possess a passport valid for at least six months from the entry date
• Work in approved professions, such as:
 • Doctors
 • Engineers
 • Lawyers
 • Teachers
 • Journalists
 • Business Managers
• Maintain a clean legal record

Citizens from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, and Yemen are not eligible for the e-visa and thus, if they wish to travel to Kuwait, the individuals will have to apply at the Kuwait embassy or consulate in their GCC countries of residence. Meanwhile, citizens of 53 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, and several other European and Asian nations, can easily obtain the visitor visa on arrival at Kuwait International Airport.

Expatriates are reminded to ensure their documents remain valid throughout their stay and to adhere to Kuwaiti laws and regulations.
