Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the military to prepare for an assault on Rafah, where according to United Nations, more than half of Gaza’s population is hemmed with nowhere else to flee. Biden Administration and Rights Group have expressed concerns over the expansion of the Israeli military operation, which they could have dire consequences for the Palestinians.

Director of the Save the Children charity group for the occupied Palestinian territories, Jason Lee said that the Palestinians is Gaza are being “moved around like pieces on a chess board”. Talking to Al Jazeera, he said, “we’re now facing a massive displacement of people – over 1.3 million people are estimated to be in Rafah, where there is no shelter, there is absolutely nowhere for them to live. Civilians are living in tents, in makeshift shelters all along the sides of streets, in car parks, next to mosques, next to schools, next to hospitals, wherever they can find space”.

US, the closest ally of Israel, who stood solid in support of “Israel’s right to defend themselves”, said it would not support Israeli military operation in Rafah.

White House spokesperson John Kirby told reporters that the military operation in Rafah at this time would be a “disaster”. He said, “any major military operation in Rafah at this time, under these circumstances, with more than a million – probably more like a million and a half – Palestinians who are seeking refuge and have been seeking refuge in Rafah without due consideration for their safety would be a disaster, and we would not support it”.

American President, Joe Biden called Israel’s war Gaza “over the top”. Talking in a press conference, Biden said that the conduct of Israel’s war on Gaza “has been over the top”. He said people are starving in Gaza and deaths of the innocent people have “to stop”. He also added that he has been “working tirelessly” on the truce deal.

Biden said it was him who pushed and convinced the Egyptian President Abdel Fatah el-Sisi and Netanyahu to open the Rafah border to let in the humanitarian aid. He further added that he is the “guy that made the case that we have to do much more to increase the amount of material going in, including fuel, including other items. I’ve been on the phone with the Qataris. I’ve been on the phone with the Egyptians. I’ve been on the phone with the Saudis to get as much aid as we possibly can into Gaza”.

Joe Biden said he is now “pushing very hard” to deal with the hostage ceasefire.

Four months into the brutal genocidal war on Gaza by Israel, the situation is getting even more horrific in the Strip. The Gazans are facing multiple layers of distraught as days pass. Hunger, disease and distraught over the denial of shelters, food, and any other basic humane needs, made the besieged enclave an inferno for those who are still alive.

More than 85 percentage of the total population of Gaza, that is around 1.9 million people are internally displaced by the war. Form north to south and from there to Rafah and Khan Younis of southern Gaza, the innocent civilians were chased around by the Israeli occupation force.
