Not Aware Of Or Involved In Hamas Chief’s Assassination: US
Reacting to the assassination of the Hamas political head Ismail Haniyeh in Iran, US secretary of state Antony Blinken said that the United States was “not aware of or involved in” the killing of Hamas’s political chief.
“I can’t tell you what this means. I can tell you that the imperative of getting a ceasefire, the importance that has for everyone, remains,” Blinken said, the new agency Routers reported, citing a transcript shared by his staff from an interview with Channel News Asia in Singapore.

When asked about the consequences of the assassination of the Hamas leader, the US secretary of state said that he has learned over many years never to speculate on the impact one event may have on something else.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards earlier today confirmed Haniyeh’s death, hours after he attended a swearing-in ceremony for the country’s new president.
Haniyeh has been the face of the international diplomacy for Hamas amid the Israeli offensives in Gaza, and he was based out of Qatar since the war in Gaza began on October 7. It was reportedly a raid that struck the residence of the Hamas chief in Tehran, took his life after the program in the country’s capital city.
Israel, which has vowed to kill all Hamas leaders, including Haniyeh, stays silent on the assassination of the Palestinian resistance movement’s political chief. It is also reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had ordered cabinet ministers not to comment, while some ministers celebrated the assassination on social media.
