The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), an organisation of Muslim countries, strongly denounced the ongoing and intensified “Israeli military aggression in Lebanon, resulting in numerous casualties, injuries, and approximately one million displaced individuals”. The OIC, in a statement, attributed the escalation to the Israeli occupation and emphasized the threat it poses to the overall security and stability of the region.
The organisation have also called for increased support for Lebanon and the immediate provision of humanitarian aid to assist the Lebanese government in addressing the displacement crisis stemming from the “aggressive Israeli actions”.
On the other hand, the OIC has also vehemently denounced the ongoing “war crimes perpetrated by the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip”.
“This condemnation follows the recent appalling massacres in the Nuseirat camp and the city of Khan Yunis, resulting in the deaths and injuries of numerous innocent civilians. These acts are viewed as a continuation of the systematic genocide against the Palestinians, necessitating accountability and legal action under international criminal law,” the OIC statement said.
The OIC has reiterated its appeal to the UN Security Council to fulfill its obligations in upholding global peace and security. “This includes enforcing its resolutions, instituting an immediate and all-encompassing ceasefire, and bringing a definitive halt to the ongoing breaches of international law by the Israeli occupation,” the statement added.
