Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas leader on Tuesday affirmed that a truce agreement with Israel is “close”. The agreement will include ceasefire, providing humanitarian aids for all areas of Gaza, and arrangements for transferring the wounded to other countries for treatment.
Hamas official said the details about the truce will be revealed in coming hours. The truce will also talk about an exchange of captives deal to release the Palestinian women and children inside the Israeli prison in exchange of Israeli women and children who are under the captive of Hamas.
Izzat al-Rishq, another Hamas official said the talks of the said truce deal has been going on weeks but the Israeli Prime Minister is stalling the deal. Israel’s Channel 12 said, on Sunday, the war cabinet of Israel discussed about their willingness to move forward with the negotiation deal and wants to send message to Qatar that Israel is ready for the deal.
Abdel Hamad Siyam who is professor at Rutgers University said the truce may happen in “next 12 hours”. He told Al Jazeera that, “I believe the last few points that need to be agreed upon is the length of the pause, the volume of humanitarian aid that needs to come into Gaza”. He also added that the pause would likely to be for 3-5 days, “the Palestinians are insisting on five days…they want to give people real breathing space”.
On their telegram channel, the Hamas leader said, “the movement has submitted its response to the brothers in Qatar and the mediators, and we are approaching a truce agreement”, as quoted by AA.
On Monday evening, several family members of the Israeli hostages held by Hamas withdrew themselves from a meeting with the Israeli government officials and expressed their disappointment when told that the motto of freeing the hostages from Hamas captive and overthrowing Hamas resistance group “are equally important” for Israel, says report. While meeting with the family members of the captives, Benjamin Netanyahu described the safe return of the hostages as “sacred and supreme mission”.
It is said that the truce talk have been going on for weeks but “Netanyahu was stalling it”, and the Palastune resistance group agreed to the deal, as reported by Al Jazeera.
Qatar has been playing the role of mediator to negotiate with Israel and Hamas to release the hostages taken in by Hamas resistance group on October 7th, during the unprecedented attack from Hamas on Israel, in which around 1200 Israelis were killed.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister of Qatar said on Sunday that only “minor” challenges were remaining for the deal to release some of the captives taken by Hamas.
On November 15, Reuters news agency reported about Qatari mediators seeking to strike a deal with Hamas to release 50 hostages in return of three days complete ceasefire that would help greatly in providing emergency shipments to Gaza civilians. The news agency reported the news by citing officials on talk. The officials said general outlines of the deal was agreed but Israel was still negotiating details.
So far, Israel has refused all calls of ceasefire. The death toll in Gaza has reached 13,000. The situation is completely out of control.
