UAE Bans Social Media For Children Under 15
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: The United Arab Emirates on Thursday, June 18, announced a social media ban for children under 15. Through the move, the gulf country has joined a growing group of countries including Australia, Britain and Canada to take similar measures.
The resolution prohibited children from creating, using, or operating personal accounts on social media platforms.creating, using, or operating personal accounts on social media platforms, and the social media platforms will have to monitor and disable accounts created by under-15s or risk being blocked.

The order involves a 12-month transition period. The order has set the minimum age for social media use at 15 years, the Emirate’s official WAM news agency reported.
In December last year, Australia announced the first ban for under 16 children in the world, followed by a number of other countries. UAE becomes the first Arab nation to implement social media ban for the children.

Indonesia, Malaysia, Turkey and several European countries have also cracked down on teen use of social media. The ban was announced over mental health, cyber-bullying and a lack of physical activity and ddictive behaviour, among other issues.
