After Ukraine Visit, PM Modi Speaks To Putin: “Exchanged Perspectives On The Russia-Ukraine conflict”

Days after his visit to Ukraine, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with President Vladimir Putin today, and reiterated “India’s firm commitment to supporting an early, lasting, and peaceful resolution of the conflict” involving Russia and Ukraine. In a statement, PM Modi said he discussed measures to further strengthen the “special and privileged strategic partnership” with the Russian president. This news follows the Indian Prime Minister’s discussion about the situation in Ukraine during another phone call with President Biden yesterday, where he reiterated India’s full support for an early return to peace and stability amid the escalating Russia-Ukraine war.

“We exchanged perspectives on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and I shared my insights from the recent visit to Ukraine. I reiterated India’s firm commitment to supporting an early, lasting, and peaceful resolution of the conflict,” PM Modi said regarding his phone call with President Putin.

The developments come as India is projected to be a potential mediator in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war following Prime Minister Modi’s Ukraine visit last week. During his visit to Ukraine, Prime Minister Modi with Volodymyr Zelenskyy paid tributes to the child victims of war. The Uranian leader had said they honoured the memory of children who were taken by Russian aggression.
