Trump Criticises US Decision To Let Ukraine Use Its Missiles Against Russia As "Big Mistake"

Washington DC: An obvious suggestion to stop US support for Ukraine in its war against Russia, US President-elect Donald Trump on Monday slammed incumbent President Biden for his administration’s decision to allow Ukrainian forces to use American long-range weapons to deepen into Russian territory.

The former president, who clinched the victory for another term in the recent general election, called Biden’s move “stupid,” adding that his incoming administration was not consulted before permitting Ukraine to use the Army Tactical Missile System to strike Russian positions hundreds of miles from its border. Trump also vowed to reverse Biden’s decision in the upcoming administration under him.

Stating that he does not think it should have been allowed, Trump said that why would they do it without asking him what his perspective was? “I wouldn’t have had him do that. I think it was a big mistake,” the president-elect said.

However, the White House has defended its move, pointing out that the decision was taken after months of deliberation that started before the presidential election. White House national security spokesperson John Kirby said that they had discussed the reasons and the logic behind the decision and had various level meetings on it.

The president-elect had vowed to end the Ukraine-Russia war once he took charge as the new head of the US, as he has been calling on Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian president Vladimir Putin to hold negotiations to stop the war, referring to the death and destruction caused by the war.

Ukraine has been reportedly trying to influence president-elect Trump to make him continue US support in its war against Russia as the country remains in a weakened point following years of war. The US had last week warned that the Russians might use lethal weapons against Ukraine.
