India on Wednesday expressed its profound concern over the deteriorating security and humanitarian conditions in the Middle East, after a recent edition of Palestine-Israel conflict, started on October 7, elevated to a level of disrupting the stability of West Asia. India’s anxiety on the prevailing war was pronounced by the Ambassador R Ravindra, the country’s Deputy Permanent Representative (DPR), at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). The UNSC is one of the six principal organs of the UN, charged with ensuring international peace and security.
Mr Ravindra reiterated New Delhi’s efforts to forward humanitarian assistance to the civilians of Gaza Strip, and added that the country so far facilitated 38 tons of food and emergency medical equipment. India will continue it’s assistance to Gaza, as the Strip is facing an indefinite blockade of food, water, fuel, and medicines, by the Israel administration after Hamas orchestrated an unprecedented areal-ground attack on Israel on October 7, Saturday.
The DPR repeated India’s stand on the attack by Hamas as it was shocking and the country condemn it unequivocally. But India is truly concerned of the “large-scale loss of civilian lives” in the ongoing conflict and extended prayers and condolences to the families of the victims. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was one among the first global leaders who had expressed condolences to the families of dead and voiced solidarity with Israel at “their moment of crisis facing terror attacks”, he said at the UN meeting.

According to Mr Ravindra, the civilian casualties are the most important to consider, and it is the high time to the world parties to extend their aid to protect especially children and women. He explained that the humanitarian support India send, 38 tons in total, includes medicines and equipment to the people of Palestine.
To next, the ambassador restated was the New Delhi’s long-time aspiration for a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine issue, “leading to the establishment of a sovereign, independent and viable state of Palestine, living within secure and recognized borders, side by side in peace with Israel”. In this opinion, India also took account of Israel’s legitimate security concerns. Mr Ravindra also ensured that India will continue its support to the Palestine in sectors of health, education, women empowerment, entrepreneurship, and information technology, through the bilateral development partnership. “Every effort must be made to create conducive conditions for the resumption of these talks”, added Mr Ravindra.
