Visa free entry for Indian citizens is coming to be a trend now. Malaysia will allow free visa for China and India from December 1st. Citizens of India and China can stay up to 30 days visa free, said Bloomberg. Malaysia is the fourth country to announce visa-free entry for India.

“Starting December 1, we will give additional facilities of 30 days of visa exemption to citizens of India and China to come to Malaysia”, said Malaysian Prime Minster Anwar Ebrahim. The procedures will include security screenings.

Earlier, Sri-Lanka, Vietnam, and Thailand declared the visa free visit for Indian citizens. The country is counting on the tourism sector for their economic growth. The Prime Minister last month remarked about the developments in facilitating visa free entry for tourists, “especially from India and China”.

It was Sri Lanka that announced the visa free entry for the citizens of India first. The country has announced visa-free entry for citizens from seven countries, including India. The other countries that are eligible for visa-free travel to Sri Lanka are China, Russia, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, and Thailand. The initiative came into effect immediately and will be available until March 31, 2024, according to Sri Lankan Tourism Minister Harin Fernando.

Thailand has decided to waive off requirements for Indians as a bid to boost tourism. Indians can visit Thailand from November 10, 2023 to May 10, 2024 without visa and stay there for 30 days. The new arrangement for the visa requirement is for India and Taiwan. In September, Thailand has done the same for Chinese nationals.

China too adopted the visa free entry method as an approach to cure the dip in their economic growth after the countries tourism sector went down during the strict measures put forward during Covid 19 pandemic. The country will exempt visa criteria for France, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Italy and Malaysia.
