As per multiple TV reports, Pakistan on Thursday launched airstrikes on alleged Baloch separatist camps situated inside Iranian territory. The strike comes a day after Iran attacked the Jaish al-Adl group”s headquarters with drones and missiles inside Pakistan”s territory on Tuesday.
Reportedly, Pakistan attack was targeted mainly on two Baloch separatist factions, namely the Balochistan Liberation Front and the Balochistan Liberation Army.
When Iran called its attack on Pakistan as “another decisive step taken by Iran in response to the aggression against the security of our country”, latter condemned it as Iran”s “violation of its airspace” and warned of “serious consequences”.
“Last night”s unprovoked and blatant breach of Pakistan”s sovereignty by Iran is a violation of international law and the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations. This illegal act is completely unacceptable and has no justification whatsoever,” Pakistan”s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
“Pakistan reserves the right to respond to this illegal act. The responsibility for the consequence will lie squarely with Iran,” the statement added.
Furthermore, Pakistan has recalled its ambassador from Iran and also blocked Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan who is currently visiting Iran from returning to Islamabad. “We have also decided to suspend all high level visits which were ongoing or were planned between Pakistan and Iran in coming days,” Ministry said.
Jaish al-Adil, a Sunni militant group that operates mainly in south-eastern Iran bordering Pakistan was blacklisted by Iran as a terrorist organisation. In recent years, it undertook several attacks on Iranian soil.
