The situation in Bangladesh does not appear to curb even after the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The rioters continued with violence, including looting and attacking minority communities, said media reports. India urged Bangladesh government to monitor and find solutions to the atrocities taking place. Politicians and celebrities responded to the neighbouring country’s situation.

Taking to her X account, Swara Bhasker urged Bangladeshi people to not to let their “revolution dissipate into mob violence and majoritarian hegemony”, and asked to protect the minority communities. She was respnding to the news of Musician Rahul Ananda’s house set on fire.

 

Varun Grover said what is being done to the Hindus in the country is horrible. He said, “A revolution that can’t ensure the safety and dignity of the minorities is no revolution. Mob-rule must end and the student leaders, new government must step-in to control it”.

 

Raveena Tandon expressed solidarity with the victims and called for an immediate end to the violence. She said, “It is essential that Global leaders and influencers, especially from India, speak out against these atrocities and work together to protect the rights and dignity of all people”.

 

Sonu Sood said it is not only the responsibility of government, but everyone to bring back the fellow Indians from Bangladesh.

 

Responding to the issue, AIMIM MP, Asaduddin Owisi said, “The reports of minorities being attacked in Bangladesh are concerning. The government and authorities of Bangladesh have a duty under international law to protect the life limb and property of minorities”.

External Affairs Minister of India, S Jaishankar said, Indian government is “deeply concerned” about the condition of the minority communities in Bangladesh.

While detailing the events that led up to Hasina’s dramatic resignation, Jaishankar revealed that the Indian government had “repeatedly counselled restraint and urged that the situation be diffused through dialogue”.

After the all-party meeting that discussed the prevailing situation in Bangladesh, Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar issued a suo-moto statement regarding the political crisis in the neighbouring country in the Rajya Sabha today.

He said that the India-Bangladesh relations have been “exceptionally close for many decades” over many governments. He said India is in regular touch with the authorities in Dhaka, and stressed that it is a “sensitive issues about an important neighbour on which there has always been strong national consensus”.

A special announcement was made via loudspeaker in a mosque from Bangladesh, urging citizens to maintain communal harmony and protect the Hindu community from violence. The message was delivered by a member of ‘Students Against Discrimination’ group.

Earlier it was reported that 20 dead bodies of Awami League leaders were found across the country. The rioters barged into the residence of Hasina, and looted the places. They took everything their hands land on. Rioters engaged themselves in vandalism and looting of homes and businesses of Awami League leaders, reported Dhaka Tribune. Reports also suggest that house of former councillor Md Shah Alam in Comilla city, 100 km from the capital Dhaka, was set on fire by a mob.
