The alert, sent to mobile phones across several parts of the city on Friday, asked residents to seek shelter in the nearest secure building and stay away from windows, doors and open spaces until further instructions are issued by authorities.

According to the message circulated by the Ministry, the warning was issued as a precautionary safety measure in light of the current situation.

Officials urged people to remain calm while strictly following the instructions provided through official channels.

“Given the current situation and a potential missile threat, please immediately take shelter in a secure building away from windows, doors and open spaces, and wait for official instructions,” the alert message said.

Authorities stressed that public cooperation is crucial during such emergencies to ensure safety and allow security agencies to respond effectively.

The Ministry also issued a strong warning to residents against prioritising social media content over personal safety. Officials said some individuals had reportedly stepped outside their homes or stopped their vehicles to record videos after receiving the emergency notification.

Authorities cautioned that such behaviour puts lives at risk and could lead to legal consequences if it involves ignoring official safety instructions.

Special instructions were also provided for motorists who might receive the alert while driving. The Ministry of Interior clarified that drivers should not suddenly stop on highways or exit their vehicles abruptly, as this could create dangerous situations.

Instead, drivers are advised to continue to their destination and seek shelter in the nearest secure building once they arrive.

Officials have urged residents to rely only on verified government sources for updates, warning that misinformation on social media could cause unnecessary panic.
