US Presidential aspirant, Vivek Ramaswamy has dropped out of Republican presidential race on Tuesday. Indian-American announced his suspension of Republican presidential bid after a disappointing finish in Iowa. Meanwhile, former US President Donald Trump won the Iowa caucus.
“I will stick to the truth tonight. The first hard truth – and this was hard for me, I gotta admit this, but we’ve looked at it every which way. And I think it is true that we did not achieve the surprise that we wanted to deliver tonight,” Vivek Ramaswamy said at his campaign’s watch party in Des Moines, Iowa.
The 38-year-old biotech entrepreneur has also endorsed his competitor Donald Trump. “Earlier tonight, I called Donald Trump to tell him that I congratulate him on his victory. And now going forward, he will have my full endorsement for the presidency,” Vivek Ramaswamy said.
Vivek Ramaswamy, who entered the race since February has been hitting headlines for his shocking and radical statements. Mr. Ramaswamy was constantly at the end of controversies, backlashes and sometimes praises for his outspoken approach. The biotech entrepreneur was closely following the hardline political stance of former US President Donald Trump
His strong opinions concerning the H-1B Visa Programme, and ending birthright citizenship to children of illegal migrants in the US has garnered attention. Besides, his statements favouring the ban on abortion and the fact that there are only two genders and transgenderism in teenagers is actually a “mental disorder” have opened up much debate. Vivek Ramaswamy, second generation Indian-American, was the youngest candidate in the presidential race.
