2025 MG Astor Launched: Competes Against Leading Mid-Size SUVs Brands

JSW In India, MG Motor has introduced an upgraded Astor. The Astor’s ex-showroom prices range from Rs 9.99 lakh to Rs Ra 17.56 lakh. The most recent version of Astor has a new branding and some improvements over the MY2024 model. In its most recent commercial campaign, MG renamed the Astor as the “Blockbuster SUV.” 

Astor receives an improved Shine variation in the most recent avatar, which now has a panoramic sunroof. With an ex-showroom price of Rs 12.48 lakh, it is now the least expensive SUV in its class with a panoramic sunroof. Starting with the Select trim, six airbags are now standard.

Additionally, all models of the Astor now come standard with an ivory interior motif. The Sangria trim is only available on the top-spec Savvy Pro. The i-Smart 2.9 Advanced UI, front ventilated seats, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility are further new features. The remaining equipment is unaltered.

A 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a completely digital instrument cluster, a 6-speaker music system, more than 80 connected car functions, auto dimming IRVM, and a Jio speech recognition system are among the conveniences that come with the MG Astor. With regard to safety, the Astor has 14 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) with Level 2 features.

The 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine has been removed from MG Motor’s range in a significant shift. The 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine that powers the Astor may now be paired with an 8-speed CVT automatic transmission or a 5-speed manual gearbox. This motor produces a maximum torque of 144 Nm and 109 horsepower. 

The JSW MG Astor has been upgraded with minor but significant improvements that increase its allure in the cutthroat SUV market. The Shine model now comes with a panoramic sunroof, making it the most reasonably priced SUV with this feature, with pricing beginning at ₹9.99 lakh. Comfort and safety are improved with the Select trim’s standard six airbags, a redesigned interior, wireless connectivity, and front ventilated seats. The 1.5L normally aspirated engine is still available with manual and CVT gearbox choices, while the 1.3L turbo-petrol engine is being phased out. By using the moniker “Blockbuster SUV,” the Astor hopes to increase sales in 2024.
