Genesis G90 Based X Gran Coupe And Convertible Concept Cars Showcased At Seoul Motor Show
The Hyundai-owned company’s flagship luxury vehicle, the Genesis G90, gave rise to two designs that were unveiled at the Seoul Mobility Show. These niche model variants, known as the X Gran Coupe and X Gran Convertible, have distinctive design features and are intended to broaden the Genesis roster going forward.
Following the New York, GV80, Essentia, and Mint, the X Gran is Genesis’ sixth concept. The concept series, which debuted in 2021, outlines the brand’s vision for opulent, environmentally friendly grand tourers with the distinctive Two Lines style.

Both ideas include front and rear twin-lightbar designs and are very similar to the G90 limousine. At the event, Genesis design chief Luc Donckerwolke stated, “The idea is to create derivatives of the G90 that share the same platform, so these are cars that could be integrated into the lineup.”
The 2025 coupe and convertible variants, which were previewed by the Genesis X concept, will still have two doors, but the G90 sedan will have four. The flush-handled, frameless doors appear to be almost ready for production, which could be a preview of the final, road-ready design. The luxury automaker did not provide any measurements, other than to affirm that the vehicles are built on the G90 platform’s short wheelbase layout. Refer to the table below for the G90 dimensions.
The X Gran ideas add crystal elements to the center console, air vents, and steering wheel over the basic G90. The use of microperforated olive wood, displays built into the back of the front headrests, and an aluminum-spoked steering wheel all contribute to the vehicle’s opulent positioning. The convertible’s exterior and interior are both painted in different shades of grape, and it also has a cloth roof.
Although it was previously stated that the X Gran vehicles would be powered exclusively by electricity, Genesis has used the 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine and mild hybrid technology from the current G90 for the concept car pair. At 5,800 rpm, the maximum power output is 415 horsepower.

Hyundai has been considering introducing the Genesis brand to India. The Genesis GV80 is the most promising candidate, supported by a design patent application in the nation, and it might initially introduce an SUV as a complete import. The Mercedes GLE, BMW X5, and Audi Q7 will compete with the GV80 SUV if it is introduced here.
