Honda has made a significant stride in the Indian automotive market with the launch of its much-anticipated SUV, the Honda Elevate. The arrival of this model has sparked enthusiasm among consumers, who have long awaited a proper SUV offering from the brand. Initial reviews of the Elevate have been positive, praising its design and feature-packed offerings. However, one lingering question on everyone”s mind is regarding its safety credentials, especially in the absence of a safety rating from GNCAP.
While GNCAP has yet to test the Honda Elevate, we can draw insights from the safety performance of other Honda models in the past. Traditionally, Honda vehicles have fared well in crash tests conducted by GNCAP, with models like the Honda Jazz and the 4th generation Honda City achieving commendable 4-star ratings. Given that the Elevate shares a platform with the City, it is reasonable to expect similar safety ratings. Although Honda has internally tested the Elevate and claims satisfactory results across various tests, the ultimate validation will come from the upcoming Bharat NCAP assessment.
In terms of safety features, the Honda Elevate is well-equipped with both active and passive safety technologies. It boasts Honda Sensing, an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which includes features such as lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, auto high beam, lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking, and Leading vehicle departure exit. Additionally, the Elevate offers a comprehensive array of safety elements, including six airbags, hill start assist, vehicle stability assist, ABS + EBD, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
Visually, the Elevate sports a boxy design reminiscent of Honda”s global SUV lineup, featuring an upright grille, sharp-looking headlamps, and distinctive L-shaped tail lamps. Under the hood, it is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine generating 119bhp and 145Nm of torque. Honda claims impressive fuel efficiency figures of 15.31 km/l with the manual gearbox and 16.92 km/l with the CVT gearbox.
On the feature front, the Elevate offers a 10.25-inch infotainment system, electric sunroof, wireless phone connectivity, lane watch camera, and connected car technology, enhancing both convenience and connectivity for occupants. In terms of pricing, the Honda Elevate is competitively positioned, with prices ranging from Rs 13.22 lakh to Rs 19.22 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
Overall, the Honda Elevate emerges as a compelling product in the SUV segment, poised to make a mark with its blend of safety, performance, features, and value for money. While awaiting official safety ratings, Honda”s track record and the Elevate”s comprehensive safety features instill confidence that it will uphold the brand”s commitment to safety and contribute to raising safety standards in the Indian automotive landscape.
