The KLX230 was released by Kawasaki for Rs 3.30 lakh (ex-showroom, India). At the moment, it is the priciest dual-sport motorbike that is permitted to ride on Indian roads. The first dual-sport motorcycle produced and marketed in India by a Japanese company is the Kawasaki KLX230.
A 233cc air-cooled motor that generates 18.3Nm at 6,400 rpm and 18.1hp at 8,000 rpm powers the KLX230. This engine has a very tiny fuel tank capacity of only 7.6 liters and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. It has a monoshock with 250mm of travel at the back and a 37mm telescopic fork with 240mm of travel at the front.

It comes with a monochrome LCD that supports Bluetooth and a somewhat small feature set. Additionally, it has dual-channel ABS. The KLX230 has a lofty seat height of 880mm and a curb weight of 139kg, making it comparatively light. For shorter riders, the manufacturer does, however, provide an optional lower seat.
The Hero Xpulse 200 4V and Xpulse 200 4V Pro, which retail for Rs 1.51 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and Rs 1.64 lakh (ex-showroom, India), respectively, are currently the KLX230’s competitors. In contrast, the Kawasaki KLX230 is twice as costly. The KLX230 is unquestionably a powerful device, but its cost and restricted service network should be a problem.

A lofty seat is a necessary component of a true dirt bike form factor, and the KLX’s is an impressive 880mm. For a market that is extremely sensitive to tall seats, it is a frightening figure. However, keep in mind that this bike is far thinner than a typical motorbike, making it slightly simpler to reach the ground than the statistic implies. Despite being on tip-toes, several of my coworkers, who were around 5’7″, managed to get by.
The KLX’s small 7.6-liter fuel tank is another drawback of its svelte design, but its quiet engine should let it last a long time between fill-ups. Through a 6-speed transmission, the basic air-cooled, 2-valve, 233cc single-cylinder motor delivers a meager 18.1 horsepower and 18.3 Nm to the rear tire.
Even though those figures might not seem impressive, the performance is more than sufficient to keep you interested in an off-road situation without being frightening. There is enough energy to move the rear wheel around in the first few gears as well, and a little push of the light clutch lever provides a respectable boost of power if you need to lift the front tire over a crest. At the same time, there was no fear of the bike losing control, and the power seemed totally reliable. An off-road rider who is just starting out would love this kind of performance as they develop their skills. The Kawasaki KLX230’s 233cc engine, lightweight design, and high-end suspension provide remarkable off-road performance.
