Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), a prominent player in the automobile industry, has recently announced a comprehensive inspection initiative for a select range of its XUV vehicles. This includes a thorough examination of more than 1.08 lakh units of the XUV700 and 3,560 units of the XUV400. The meticulous scrutiny aims to ensure optimal performance and safety, with necessary rectifications being carried out if deemed essential.
Specifically, the inspection will encompass two distinct concerns. For the XUV700, M&M will focus on evaluating the wiring loom routing in the engine bay of units manufactured between June 8, 2021, and June 28, 2023. This scrutiny is prompted by a potential risk of abrasion cut in the wiring loom. On the other hand, the XUV400 units, produced between February 16, 2023, and June 5, 2023, will be examined for an ineffective spring return action of the brake potentiometer. These precautionary measures align with the voluntary code on vehicle recall, highlighting M&M”s commitment to maintaining safety standards.
M&M emphasizes that the inspection and any subsequent rectifications will be conducted free of charge for all customers. The company is dedicated to ensuring the well-being and satisfaction of its customer base, individually reaching out to address any concerns.
This initiative follows shortly after M&M reported a significant milestone – achieving its “highest-ever SUV domestic sales” in July, reaching an impressive 36,205 units. This marked a remarkable 30% increase compared to the same period the previous year, reflecting the brand”s continued appeal and popularity among consumers.
The company”s strong performance extends beyond sales figures. In early August, M&M revealed a remarkable 98% year-on-year surge in net profit for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2023-24, reaching Rs 2,774 crore. This impressive growth was attributed, in part, to the robust sales of SUVs.
It is worth noting that M&M”s commitment to quality and safety has been evident in previous instances. In December of the previous year, the company initiated a recall for a specific batch of vehicles. This recall, involving 6,618 Scorpio-N units and 12,566 XUV700 units assembled between July 1 and November 11, 2022, was prompted by a sorting process error at the supplier”s plant that could potentially impact the operating dimensional clearance of a rubber bellow inside the bell housing.
As Mahindra & Mahindra continues to prioritise the satisfaction and safety of its customers, this proactive inspection initiative underlines the brand”s dedication to upholding stringent standards and ensuring the optimal performance of its vehicles.
