Together with the Golf GTi, the Volkswagen Tiguan R Line India debut has been formally announced for the second quarter of 2025. In 2023, the R Line, the top-of-the-line model of the most recent Tiguan, was unveiled worldwide. Since it is anticipated to come here as a complete import, the price will be more than average.
The R Line models, which are the top of the Tiguan lineup, include sharper front and back bumpers, a rear spoiler, and side panels that follow the R Line design specification. It also has wider 19-inch alloy wheels and full-width horizontal LED light strips at the front and back. The Black Style package is another option available to customers abroad, however it is unclear if Volkswagen would provide it in India.

The inside of the Tiguan R Line models includes sports seats and a 30-color ambient lighting package with three light zones. A 10.3-inch digital instrument display and a 12.9-inch central infotainment screen are standard on the Tiguan R Line. The dashboard is spotless.
The Tiguan R Line’s measurements are as follows: it is 4,539 mm long, 1,639 mm height (without roof rails), and 1,842 mm wide, which is 30 mm longer and comparable in breadth to the previous generation SUV that was offered here. Additionally, its wheelbase of 2,680mm is unchanged.
The 2017 Tiguan is built on the MQB Evo platform and comes with a variety of petrol, diesel, mild-hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrain options accessible worldwide. The range in the UK begins with a 1.5-liter mild-hybrid petrol engine that produces 150 horsepower. Then there is a 1.5-liter plug-in hybrid with 204 horsepower, a 2.0-liter gasoline engine with 265 horsepower, and a 2.0-liter diesel engine with 150 horsepower. The latter two also have 4Motion all-wheel drive systems. Every engine has a 6-speed or 7-speed DCT attached to it.

Although Volkswagen India has not yet announced which of these would be imported to India, the SUV’s higher-end 2.0-liter gasoline engine is anticipated to be in line with its premium pricing. For comparison, the current Tiguan in India has a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine that produces 190 horsepower, all-wheel drive, and a 7-speed DCT. The Tiguan is priced at Rs 38.17 lakh (ex-showroom, India), but the next-generation SUV, which will have more features, will likely cost a lot more.
