Volvo XC90 2025 Facelift India Launch With Tweaks Making It Better
In addition to being the first vehicle under new ownership and displaying a new design language, the current model of the XC90 has revolutionized Volvo automobiles. Even though Volvo has since released a number of new models, the XC90 is still a top seller both internationally and in India. Their flagship SUV, the XC90, was just introduced in a new design. To learn more, we took it for a drive.
A redesigned grille, thinner Matrix LEDs with “Thor’s Hammer lights,” and a more angular bumper are all features of the 2017 XC90. There are new 20-inch wheels and a lot of chrome, but the iconic taillights that have characterized the XC90 design are still present despite the bumper being modified. It is a sophisticated SUV with good proportions that never goes out of style.

There are more significant alterations here, but the inside is still tasteful and full of premium materials with a horizontal layout and simple design. The interior has high-quality, sustainable materials, new inlays, and more opulent upholstery in brighter hues. The main feature, though, is the larger 11.2-inch touchscreen with Google integrated in (wired Apple CarPlay is also available). This makes it just as simple to use as your phone, with Google Maps and additional apps that you can add.
The climate control is one of the permanent shortcut buttons located below. We like that the touchscreen is sleek without being overloaded, offers lovely visuals, and is easy to access. Additionally, the 360-degree camera has been enhanced. The list of features includes a heads-up display, a four-zone air cleaner, a huge panoramic sunroof, a 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkins music system—one of the best available—and more. Large, comfortable space with a high seating posture is provided by the second row seats, which also include captain seat armrests with larger cup holders. Even the third row, which is among the best in its class, is fairly roomy.

In India, the XC90 continues with its petrol mild hybrid configuration with 250hp and 360Nm with an 8-speed automatic as standard plus AWD of course. The driving position is SUV like and you sit high with a commanding view plus the crystal gear selector feels suitably expensive. Volvo has improved insulation and it is indeed quiet while only getting slightly strained if you put your foot down.
Nonetheless, it feels smooth and comfortable to drive, and it typically performs on par with its 6-cylinder competitors. The steering and the fact that it feels smaller to drive than its competitors are where the car excels. Because of the 20-inch wheels, the ride is a little stiff at low speeds, but it improves at high speeds and is comfortable to drive. Additionally, the ride is smooth and passengers in the back seat are not jostled. Things have improved thanks to the air suspension, which can also lower or raise itself in difficult terrain. Being a true luxury SUV first, it feels secure, stable at high speeds, and generally enjoyable to drive.
