Anand Mahindra, chairman of the Mahindra Group has invited ideas to motorise the hand cart from students studying at technical institutes and netizens. This thoughtful approach from the businessman came when one of his retired colleagues, Commodore Mike Bhada shared his opinion on the hardworking hand cart operators.
Sharing the incident on X, Anand Mahindra wrote that when his colleague was on his daily commute through central Mumbai, he saw a few hardworking hand cart operators. He suggested his view of retrofitting an inexpensive battery-operator motor to the cart. By fitting this, the operators will then just have to steer/guide and do not need to push. “I fully appreciate the ramifications of this exercise from the technical as well as the operational & institutional aspects but imagine the relief we will render to this segment of our labor force,” the colleague said.

Agreeing to the suggestion made by Commodore, Anand said that though we have succeeded in sending crafts to the moon and developing sophisticated EVs for expressways, these manual carts are required to travel through the narrow alleys and by-lanes of teeming cities.
Complimenting the empathy shown by his colleague, Anand further added that the students from the technical institutes can take the initiative to develop a compact and inexpensive device to make the lives of these workers easier. And thus with the new inventions, the corporates could disseminate them through CSR.
The post concluded by inviting more such ideas from the netizens.
