“Profound Positive Transformation Of Indian Economy In Last 10 Years,” Says Nirmala Sitharaman

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting the interim Budget 2024 in Parliament. During the budget speech, Nirmala Sitharaman said that the Indian economy has witnessed profound transformation in the last ten years. The finance minister also outlined the economic triumphs of the Narendra Modi-led central government.

During the Budget speech, Nirmala Sitharaman said that India was facing enormous challenges in 2014. The minister also added that the central government overcame those challenges through structural reforms and policies. “With ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ as its ‘mantra’, the Government overcame those challenges in right earnest,” said the minister. Nirmala Sitharaman said that pro-people programmes were formulated and implemented on time in India. She also said that development started reaching people at scale, and India got a sense of “new purpose and hope.”

The Union Finance Minister also highlighted that the development programmes in the last ten years have targeted every household and individual. She also added that the central government, under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, covered all elements of inclusivity.

“We are working to make India a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. For achieving that goal, we need to improve people’s capability and empower them,” added the minister in her Budget speech. Nirmala Sitharaman said that the worries about food have been eliminated through free rations for 80 crore people in the country.

Notably, today’s interim budget was the sixth budget presented by the current Finance Minister and the final one of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government’s second term. The detailed fiscal year budget will be tabled after the formation of a new government following the Lok Sabha Elections.
