Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced that Web Werks, a world class data centre provider, agreed to invest Rs 20,000 crore to set up a data centre park in the state. The chief minister said that the state has signed an MOU with Web Werks India Pvt Ltd at the World Economic Forum (WEF). “We”re set to welcome a massive Rs 20,000 crore investment from Web Werks for a new Data Centre Park in Bengaluru. This is a giant leap in our infrastructure journey,” the chief minister wrote in his post on X (formerly Twitter).

The government on Tuesday signed MOUs with investment potentials worth up to Rs 22,000 crore with seven companies. Web Werks is one among other companies the state signed MOUs, according to a statement issued by the Karnataka Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development M B Patil.
A delegation headed by Patil conducted a series of discussions with the industry leaders during the WEF Meet 2024 in Switzerland. In addition, the Lulu Group, an Emirati-based multinational conglomerate, with an investment plan of 300 crore also set to start food processing hub in a plant devoted to exports, the statement said, the Economic Times reported.
Takeda Pharmaceuticals also plans to establish a global innovation centre in Bengaluru and is actively exploring for appropriate campus locations, the statement added.
