Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM), a subsidiary of Tata Motors, is all set to establish new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across India. The company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with leading charge point operators (CPOs) to set up over 10,000 additional charging points within the next 12–15 months.
The charge point operators (CPOs) signed in this significant MoU include Chargezone, Glida, Statiq, and Zeon. Tata Passenger Electric Mobility said that the four CPOs have a combined network of nearly 2,000 charging points across major cities. The company also said that they will assist the CPOs in installing chargers at locations most frequented by their EV owners. Tata claims that they have more than 1.15 lakh EVs on Indian roads. At the same time, with this partnership, TPEM is also exploring the possibility of introducing a smart payment gateway through co-branded RFID cards that will enable ease of payment for Tata EV users.
“This collaboration will benefit from TPEM’s unparalleled EV usage insights, coupled with the CPOs’ innovative charging solutions and entrepreneurial spirit, and create 10,000+ additional charging points in the country by FY25,” said Balaje Rajan, Chief Strategy Officer, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, in the statement. Balaje Rajan also added that this strategic collaboration with four major charge point operators will accelerate India’s journey towards e-mobility. Raghav Arora, the co-founder and CTO of Statiq, said that this collaboration will redefine the EV landscape, unveiling the latest technologies and pioneering solutions that will shape the industry.
