A Us-based India CEO of a multinational software company died during his company’s silver jubilee celebration. Sanjay Shah, CEO of Vistex Asia-Pacific was died during celebrations at Ramoji Film City near Hyderabad. The accident when happened when an iron cage contraption collapsed. The iron cage was carrying Shah and his colleague, Vishwanath Raj Datla, the company’s President. It was supposed to be lowered from heights. Things did not went as planned, as the iron chain carrying the cage broke on one side, making Shah and his friend fell.
Though taken to hospital immediately, Sanjay Shah died while under treatment, and Datla’s condition is still serious. According to PTI, case has been registered against the Film City event management authorities based an official from the company’s complaint. The case has been registered under IPC section 304 A (causing death by a rash or negligent act) and section 336 (endangering human life or personal safety of others).
“A specially designed stage made of wood was elevated 20-feet above the concrete stage using a crane. The act involved a 6 mm iron wire with two layers on both sides. Unfortunately, during the performance, one side of the rope snapped without a warning and the stage fell on the people below”, said Inspector A Manmohan, as reported by Telangana Today.
Sanjay Shah was originally from Mumbai. He started Vistex Inc in 1999, and the company specializes in revenue management solutions. Vistex has has a turnover of around $300 million and has prominent clients like Coca Cola, Adobe, Kellogg’s, Abbott, Yamaha, Sony, Kimberly Clark and others. During an interview with Rejouranls in 2017, Shah said that he came to Chicago in 1993 to work in technology industry for a local company called SAP. Before getting into tech industry, he was a user of enterprise software, after leaving SAP, Sanjay Shah founded Hoffman Estates-based company Vistex, Inc.
