660 Delhi Schools Launch Civil Defence Awareness Program Amid Operation Sindoor

Amid increasing tension between India and Pakistan, schools all across the country are conducting mock drills with students. In a proactive effort to build safer and resilient schools, a school-based civil defence awareness program was launched across 660 schools in Delhi. The program aims to empower school teachers, staff and students for the civil defence during hostile threats such as air raids, explosions and emergency.

The sessions of 90-120 minutes were held on the grounds were conducted by trained instructors with teaching participants about different types of threats, including missile attacks and bombing. Moreover, students were explained how to identify air raid sirens and emergency tones with calm, order, and discipline.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has asked several states to conduct mock drills for effective civil defence on May 7, 2025. Under this, the training of civilians, students, etc, on the civil defence aspects to protect themselves in the event of a hostile attack.

Schools in states including Punjab, Haryana, West Bengal, UP, Leh, Jammu and Kashmir are conducting mock drills in schools for civil defence preparedness.

Tension between India and Pakistan increased after India launched targeted strikes against terrorists hideouts in Pakistan and Paksitan-Occupied Kashmir.

Schools in the six board district areas of Punjab incluiding Ferozpur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Tarn Taran will remain close on Thursday.

India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ on Wednesday targeted terror sites across 9 locations, killing over 30 people in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.

As per the latest updates, Pakistan’s military has said that 26 people are killed so far, while India’s military strike has injured 46 others.

Meanwhile, India reported that according to the recent updates at least 12 people on its side have been killed and 57 have been injured by cross-border shelling from Pakistan.
