'Education Has Been The Priority Of Our Government..', Delhi's Finance Minister Atishi

Delhi Government announced its budget for the year 2024-25 worth Rs 76000 Crores, which is said to be the highest that Delhi has ever witnessed. Delhi’s Finance Minister Atishi Marlena, presented the budget in the Legislature Assembly today on March 4.

The state government”s this year’s budget allocation to the education sector is Rs 16,396 crores. As per Finance Minister Atishi, education has always been the priority of the ruling government and to remove poverty the only way is to give good education to the children. She mentioned the role played by the current government in improving the education level in Delhi’s government schools in the last 10 years.


She mentioned that since 2015 education sector budget has increased significantly. “In 2015, we doubled the education budget”, informed the Delhi Finance Minister. Mentioning the high expenditure by Arvind Kejriwal’s government in Delhi, Atishi said, “We spend 1/4th of our expenditure on education only and for this year we are making a provision of Rs 16,396 crores for education”.

Delhi’s Finance Minister also talked about the priorities set under Arvind Kejriwal”s leadership for increased budget allocation to the education sector. She also talked about the improved conditions of Delhi’s government schools from its earlier condition where basic educational setups including teachers, blackboards, classrooms, and water and sanitation facilities were not available to the students.

While talking about the educational improvement she informed that only in a single year in 2023-24 sessions around 2121 students studying in Delhi’s government schools have become successful in securing ranks in NEET and IIT JEE.

Atishi also mentioned the successful journeys of students studying in Delhi’s government schools. Furthermore, she discussed the Story of Shilpi, studying in the Rohini Sector, and Himanshu from Nand Nagri who secured ranks in IIT JEE and NEET and studying Chemical Engineering and Delhi Maulana Azad Medical College respectively.
