In the latest development, a fresh petition has been filed in the Supreme Court alleging that the National Testing Agency (NTA) officials have a link to the manipulation of optical mark recognition (OMR) sheets in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) of 2024.

Responding to the new petition, the Supreme Court noted that the petitioner had not yet withdrawn the petition from the high court and directed the counsel to withdraw the plea from the high court and then move an affidavit in the top court.

A bench of Justices Manoj Misra and SVN Bhatti also questioned the plea’s qualification as a writ petition under Article 32 of the Constitution and asked the petitioner to intervene in the existing proceedings before the Court.

However, the petitioner has argued that he has moved a separate writ petition as his grounds are completely different from the pending petitions. The petitioner’s counsel claimed that the examination authority, NTA officials had involvement in the swapping of OMR sheets. It also demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) investigation into the alleged foul play by the officials.
