Kerala Chief Minister Congratulates MG University On NAAC A++ Grade

Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan congratulated Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU), Kottayam for securing an A++ grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The MGU was reaccredited in the fourth cycle with a CGPA of 3.61. Earlier university of Kerala was the only varsity in the state having the NAAC A++ grade reaccreditation.

As per the official information, the announcement regarding the grade was made after considering the report of the NAAC team that evaluated the university curriculum, teaching and learning evaluation, research innovation and extension, student support, infrastructure, governance, and best practices.

While congratulating on this achievement, Kerala CM wrote on X, “Proudest moment as the Mahatma Gandhi University has secured an A ++ grade from NAAC India following Kerala University. Reportedly, MGU was accredited with an A grade by NAAC in 2017 and has secured the 31st position in the NIRF 21 ranking conducted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The University has also been placed in the top 600-800 universities globally in the Times Higher Education Rankings 2021.

In 2023 as many as 13 colleges in the state were awarded the highest grade of A++ by the NAAC. Currently, the state’s 85% government and government-aided colleges hold a valid NAAC accreditation.

The universities on the National Assessment and Accreditation Council’s (NAAC) list are subjected to thorough evaluations. The NAAC sets the standard by which institutions are judged to have complied with Indian higher education regulations. A quality certificate is given to universities that have earned NAAC certification, enhancing the institution’s reputation.
