Amid the disappointment and concerns of the NEET PG 2024 exam aspirants regarding the allocation of exam centers, Health Minister JP Nadda has informed that a center will be granted and announced on August 5.
Soon after the exam city slips were released, candidates reported that some of the centers were located 1000 kilometres away from their preferred cities. This issue gained support of several parliamentarians with many writing letters to the Health minister.
BJP Kerala President K Surendran was among many Kerala politicians who had written a letters to Nadda citing the issue. He stated that many of the aspirants from Kerala were allotted centres outside the state. “This is especially vital considering the valuable services these doctors are rendering for those affected in the natural disaster that struck Wayanad District of the state,” he added.

In response to the letter, JP Nadda informed the recent development. However, the reassessed center will be announced on August 5.
The calamitous affair of the Wayanad landslides has created a situation of national emergency in the state. Almost 10,000 MBBS doctors are set to participate in the examination, but many of them are currently volunteering for the rescue and treatment efforts of the victims of the tragedy.

Thus, requiring them to leave the state to attend the examination will cause personal hardship and will also impact the ongoing rescue and medical efforts in Wayanad.
Earlier, flagging the travel concerns for NEET aspirants of the state, Kerala MPs including Shashi Tharoor, Anto Anthony, Hibi Eden and Benny Behanan had met with Union health minister JP Nadda appealing him to review and rectify the NEET PG exam centres and set up centers in Kerala. The MPs had cited the recent Wayanad landslide as logistical challenges in addition to the financial burdens for candidates to travel for examination.
