NEET Row: Students Raise Concerns Over Asking Personal Details In Answer Sheet

As rage over the NEET-UG result continues to rocks the country, students have identified a new lapse about the examination body in the question paper. Denoting columns to mention parents names in the answer sheet, several students questioned the need fill the same, suspecting potential ill-intention behind the act.

The exposition of the complete identity by mentioning personal details in the answer sheet has added fuel the already existing resentment of students against the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the country’s higher level eligibility examinations.

The recently cancelled UGC-NET examination, which was computerised until last year, had shifted to OMR this year. Notably, the NET exam answer sheet also included a column to mention the parents’ names, adds further shadow since following the shocking cancellation of the nationwide exam on the ground of compromised integrity.

Moreover, the new announcement postponing the NEET-PG examination has further angered many aspiring students. One of the infuriated student’s video criticising the ministry went viral on social media.

Calling the manner of postponement just before the examination ‘utterly unprofessional’ the student asked,  “Are the people in the ministry of education eligible to take such a decision? Are they eligible to be in that position of power and make policies that ruin people’s lives like this? Don’t you think before doing such things?”

She also attributed the decision of good doctors to leave the country is due to the unprofessional conduct of the system. “You oppose talents leaving the country. do you expect they will stay here with all this you do to them,” she said. Several students also asked how the postponement a day before the exam hits average students who might have booked their ticket to travel to another city along with their parents and have arranged their accommodations.

 

However, the government on June 23 removed NTA chief Subodh Kumar Singh as a face-saving measure to withstand the rising protest. It gave the additional charge to  Pradeep Singh Kharola, the Chairman and Managing Editor of the India Trade Promotion Organisation and retired Indian Administration Service (IAS) officer Pradeep Singh Kharola. The education ministry has also entrusted the CBI to investigate the NEET exam irregularities.
