New NEET PG 2024 Exam Date Likely To Be Announced Soon

The new date for the National Eligibility Entrance Test (Postgraduate) (NEET PG) is reportedly expected to be announced this week. The exam scheduled on June 23 was postponed less than 12 hours before the scheduled time. The postponement news raised concerns over the functioning of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the decision-makers.

On the one hand, when students are also frustrated over the exam-related irregularities in different national-level examinations including NEET UG, UGC NET, CSIR UGC NET, and other state examinations, the news brings a shock to the students who had already traveled to the destinations km away.

However, the government took several measures after that including the formation of a high-level expert committee, the transfer of paper leak cases of NEET UG to CBI, and the appointment of a new NTA director general till the new appointment comes.

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) welcomed the reforms by the government and urged the government to take swift action to maintain timely admission to Medical, Dental, and other courses.

The NEET PG examination is held to ensure the eligibility of the MBBS degree holders for enrollment in postgraduate medical courses in government and private medical colleges nationwide. The exam was supposed to be conducted for admission into 26,168 Doctor of Medicine (MD) seats, 13,649 Master of Surgery (MS) seats, and 922 PG Diploma seats in a total of 6,102 government, private, and central/deemed universities.

The NEET PG exam consists of 200 MCQs, and the total duration of the examination is 3 hours and 30 minutes. A correct responce recieves 4 marks and 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer.
