NTA Notifies SWAYAM January 2024 Semester Exams And Schedule

National Testing Agency (NTA) has invited applications for Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM) January 2024 semester exams. The national agency also informed about the changes in the exam schedule due to the Lok Sabha elections scheduled to begin from April 19.

As per the official release, the application procedure has started yesterday on March 19, 2024. Interested candidates can fill out the application form till April 18 and fee submission will be allowed till April 19, 2024. The correction window will be opened from April 20 to April 22, 2024.

Through the latest notification, the changes in the dates of examination have also been clarified. The exams for the January semester will be conducted on 18, 19, 26, and 27 May 2024. Earlier, one of the exams was scheduled for May 25, 2024, which has now been rescheduled to May 27, 2024.

The 3-hour examination will be conducted in two shifts. Shift I will commence from 9 AM to 12 Noon and Shift II will take place from 3 PM to 6 PM. The medium of the question paper will be in English language except for the language courses.

The information regarding the scheme of the exam, centers, timings, fee, and application procedure has been given in the SWAYAM-January 2024 semester information bulletin available on the official website – exam.nta.ac.in. The candidates are also advised to keep visiting the NTA website for the latest updates about the exam.

SWAYAM serves as the national MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) platform, offering higher education courses with the added feature of credit transfer to universities. Three educational ideals are the focus of the SWAYAM portal launch: equity, quality, and access. On July 9, 2017, the SWAYAM program was introduced by the Ministry of Education. Through online courses, it seeks to give millions of students access to a high-quality education.

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) serve as national coordinators for SWAYAM students in grades 9 through 12. A vast library of 10,451 courses is available through the SWAYAM Portal; 257 courses are from NCERT and 431 courses are from NIOS.

Recent government data indicates that 4.1 lakh students have registered for NCERT courses, and over 34 lakh students have registered for NIOS courses. The task of administering the SWAYAM Exam has been given to the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Dharmendra Pradhan, Union’s Minister of Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship introduced the SWAYAM Plus platform on February 27, 2024. As per the Education Ministry, this platform will provide courses that are in line with business requirements and are designed to improve students’ employability. SWAYAM Plus platform will serve as a pillar in supporting an all-encompassing digital environment for students, teachers, and business professionals.
