Two New Test Papers Added in CUET UG – 2024

National Testing Agency (NTA) has notified the inclusion of two subjects to the CUET (UG) – 2024, following the UGC and CBSE direction to promote skill subjects following the National Education Policy 2020.

This will add Fashion Studies and Tourism in the list of existing subjects for admission into the universities. NTA also noted that candidates who have already submitted their online application form for CUET (UG)-2024 can opt for these courses after the correction window opens from March 28 and March 29, 2024 (till 11:50 PM).

However, the notification asserted that an additional fee would be charged from the candidates to opt for more subjects. This year, students are allowed to write to a maximum six papers, as opposed to the previous requirement of ten. This choice was made because, in the previous year”s test, a very small fraction of students chose to take ten papers.

The application process for CUET-UG began on February 27 and the last date to apply is March 26, 2024. The testing agency also asked to submit online application form before the last date to avoid any discrepancies.

Candidates are advised to regularly visit the NTA website – https://www.nta.ac.in/ to update regarding the participating universities and their offered courses. CUET is held for Admission to Undergraduate Programmes into Central Universities and Other Participating Universities, Institutions, Organizations, and Autonomous Colleges. So far, nearly 200 higher education institutions have registered to allow CUET scores for admission into their courses.

The NTA will administer the CUET UG 2024 this year from May 15 to May 31, 2024. Students appearing for Class 12 exams in 2024 are also eligible to apply. However, they are required to submit class 12 qualifying documents within a given time frame.

Reportedly, this year NTA will conduct the CUET in a hybrid format to facilitate students appearing from rural areas. The hybrid mode will include an OMR-based pen-and-paper test and a Computer Based Test (CBT). CBT will allow candidates in remote or rural areas of the country to take the exam closer to their homes.

The NTA has been mandated by the Ministry of Education and University Grant Commission to conduct the CUET which provides a single window opportunity to students seeking admission in any of the Central Universities (CUs) or other participating organizations including State Universities, Deemed, and Private Universities across the Country.
