BJP Triumphs Over KCR, ‘Future Chief Minister’ In Kamareddy

BJP”s Katipally Venkata Ramana Reddy, former chairman of Nizamabad zilla parishad, emerged victorious in the Kamareddy constituency, securing 66,652 votes. Notably, he triumphed over Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), who secured the second position with 59,911 votes. The third position was claimed by Congress President Revanth Reddy, garnering 54,916 votes.

The Kamareddy assembly constituency, encompassing Kamareddy, Machareddy, Domakonda, Bhiknur, Bibipet, and Rajampet mandals, witnessed a closely contested three-cornered competition, leading to speculations regarding the potential victory of Revanth Reddy, the man who helmed Congress to historic win in the state and set to become the next chief minister of Telangana.

Over the last four assembly elections in Kamareddy, Gampa Govardhan of BRS secured victories. In 2009, under the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) banner, Gampa Govardhan emerged victorious. In 2014, he defeated Congress” Mohd Ali Shabbir with 71,961 votes, surpassing Shabbir”s 63,278 votes, while BJP”s Siddaramulu Ettam secured the third position with 13,938 votes. The constituency had 2,19,345 voters during that period.

In 2018, Gampa Govardhan once again triumphed over Mohd Ali Shabbir, polling 68,167 votes against Shabbir”s 63,610. BJP secured the third position with 15,439 votes, and the total electorate stood at 2,05,782.

As per the latest reports, among the total 119 seats in the Telangana Assembly, the Indian National Congress (INC) is leading with 59 seats, followed by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BHRS) in second place, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) holding the third position. These elections were part of a broader electoral process that included Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Mizoram, with results have been declared for all states now.
