Delhi Assembly Election Results Live: Who Will Rule National Capital For The Next Five Years?
New Delhi: As the counting of votes progress in Delhi, report states that BJP grabbed the majority mark to form government, giving a huge blow to AAP.
The big day is here. The stage is set for the finale of the political battle in Delhi. A fierce three-way contest between Aam Admi Party (AAP), BJP and Congress held in the national capital. In the single-phase election held on February 5, 70 assembly constituencies recorded a total voter turnout of 60.44%.
Most of the exit poll predicted return of the BJP to power after 27 years exile, delivering a huge blow to the hat-trick prospects of AAP, with Congress on a distant third.
A total of 699 candidates, including 96 women, were in the fray. AAP and Congress fielded 70 candidates each and the BJP 68 candidates, while two seats were being contested by its allies Janata Dal (United) and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas).
In the 2020 Assembly polls, AAP secured a massive victory, winning 62 seats, while BJP secured 8 seats. However, the Congress failed to garner any seats in the election.
