Telangana is witnessing an ascendant Congress against the incumbent K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) – led Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government. Congress is attacking the KCR”s regime, majorly targeting dynasty politics and increasing corruption in the state. Senior Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi is actively engaged in the poll campaigns in Telangana.

Attending a public meeting in Palair, Priyanka Gandhi said: “For a new dawn, bring Congress.” She pointed that KCR has shattered the dreams of people of Telangana, and argued that last ten years of BRS rule was of betrayal and disappointment. She says that it was the sacrifice of the people, the farmers, the youth and the women with hope and dream lead to the creation of Telangana, tactfully dismantling KCR”s emotional pitch of his sacrifice for the creation of the new state.

In an all and out attack against BRS, Congress points to rampant corruption in the state and unemployment crisis. Stressing the unemployment aspect, Priyanka Gandhi said in Warangal that Telangana is among the top states in the country in matters of unemployment. During her address, touching the topic of inflation she attacked both BJP-led government at the Centre and the KCR-led government in Telangana. While saying that women suffer from the brunt of inflation more, she addressed the women voters in the state, and to woo them she  presented Congress guarantees for their benefits.

Addressing a poll rally at Bhongir, she accused the KCR – led regime for running government from farmhouses and said: “Big leaders of Telangana are sitting in their mansions and farmhouses and running the government… All its (BRS) leaders are sitting in big mansions. All their policies are for big business people only. They do not have anything for the small business people, middle class, poor, Dalits and Adivasis.” Priyanka Gandhi then added that in Telangana poor are becoming poorer and the BRS is getting richer.

Corruption in the BRS government is, “from top to bottom at every stage,” she said. She cites that no project, including BRS government”s flagship Kaleshwaram irrigation project was completed. Congress attacked ruling BRS and KCR first family for amassing wealth via welfare schemes and projects, especially Kaleshwaram project.

In Telangana”s Gadwal, Senior Congress leader accentuated her sharp attack and included AIMIM, friendly ally of BRS and said: “BRS has illegally occupied Masjid lands and joining hands with AIMIM they have grabbed waqf board lands.” Priyanka Gandhi”s involvement in Telangana election campaigns, in no doubt, has lifted spirit of Congress to a new heights.

Reports says that Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi will jointly hold a roadshow and address public meetings on Tuesday in their last attempt to appeal to the voters of Telangana. As Telangana Assembly Elections fall on November, a three-cornered contest between BRS, Congress and BJP can be witnessed.
