BRS supremo, KCR retains his home constituency, Gajwel. Since the formation of Telangana state, KCR is representing the constituency. Though BRS suffered huge blow in this election, Gajwel stayed with him for the third consecutive term. In Gajwel, by securing 111684 votes he defeated former BRS minister Eatala Rajender(BJP) who polled 66653 votes. Besides, former MLA T Narsa Reddy (Congress) scored third with 32568 votes.
In the 2018 election, BRS Chief defeated Vanteru Pratap Reddy of Congress by a margin of over 50,000 votes. Even in the 2014 election, Pratap Reddy was KCR’s opponent and won the seat by a margin of about 20,000 votes. While placing Eatala Rajender in the fray, BJP was aiming at Gajwel’s 38,000 to 40,000 Mudiraj community community votes, to which Rajender belong. Meanwhile, Narsa Reddy won the Gajwel seat in 2009 when it was part of undivided Andhra Pradesh. He joined BRS after 2014 and then, rejoined the Congress in 2018.
Besides, KCR contested from Kamareddy, his native spot where he lost to BJP BJP’s K Venkata Ramana Reddy, former chairman of Nizamabad zilla parishad. In Kamareddy, Gampa Govardhan of BRS (then TRS) won elections as an MLA five times in 1994, 2009, 2011, 2014 and 2018. When Gampa Govardhan dropped from the seat, BRS chief was deciding to contest it as his second seat.
The 119 seats of the southern state went for polls in a first phase on November 30.
