In Rajasthan“s Chomu seat, Dr. Shikha Meel Barala of Indain National Congress won with 85746, beating Ram Lal Sharma of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who polled 80051.
Chomu is a constituency in the state of Rajasthan and is part of Sikar Parliamentary constituency. Chomu constituency covers all voters from parts of Chomu tehsil, which include ILRC Chomu including Chomu Municipal Board, ILRC Govindgarh, ILRC Kaladera; and Singod Kalan, Singod Khurd, Itawa Bhopji and Udaipuriya of ILRC Khejroli. There are a total of 2,19,705 voters in the seat.
Ramlal Sharma emerged as the victor in the elections conducted in both 2013 and 2018. In 2018, Ramlal Sharma from Bharatiya Janata Party won with 70183 votes. In 2013, he won the seat by a margin of 44,473 (29.07%). Ramlal Sharma secured 61.14% of the total votes polled. INC won this seat in the 2008 Assembly elections with a margin of 135 votes.
In the 2018 Rajasthan elections, Chomu recorded a voter turnout of 83.85%. In 2013 the turnout was 83.37, and in 2008 it was 74.8.
The BJP seized control from the Congress in Rajasthan on December 3 by securing a decisive majority and becoming the primary party beyond the halfway threshold in the tightly contested Assembly election. The BJP claimed victory in 115 of the 200 seats up for grabs, while the Congress trailed significantly with 69 seats. Along with Rajasthan, the Assembly elections were held in four other states including Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Chhattisgarh. The results of these three states have also been announced today.
