Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, popularly known as RGV, on Friday clarified his twitter post regarding his contest from Andhra Pradesh”s Pithapuram. In the recent post, the director explains that in the earlier tweet, what he meant was that he is taking part in a short film “contest,” and for that, he is submitting the entry, which was shot in Pithapuram.
He, then, added that he is “not sorry” for this miscommunication because, even though there was not even a mention of the word “election,” the media jumped into speculation.

Pithapuram is an assembly segment in Andhra Pradesh state. Interestingly, Ram Gopal Varma”s social media post came after Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief and actor Pawan Kalyan has announced that he will contest from Pithapuram. The BJP, Telugu Desam Party (TDP), and JSP formed an alliance in Andhra Pradesh in view of the Lok Sabha polls and the assembly elections that will take place simultaneously.
In December last year, Ram Gopal Varma, in strong words, attacked the TDP supremo, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, TDP MLC Nara Lokesh, and Pawan Kalyan for conducting an alleged protest outside his office in Hyderabad in connection with his movie Vyooham.
Ram Gopal Verma”s last release, Vyooham, was at the centre of political controversy. The movie dealt with the political issues of Andhra Pradesh and delves into the circumstances surrounding the passing of the former chief minister of the state, YS Rajasekhar Reddy. The subject matter generated controversy even before its release. The movie featured Ajmal Ameer, Manasa Radhakrishnan, and Surabhi Prabhavathi in significant roles.
Confirming his decision, he wrote another social media, “To all those doubting , I AM SUPER SERIOUS.”
