The story of Tamil star Dhanush’s journey of stardom is one of grit and determination. During his film career, the Tamil star successfully created some cult classics.

And today marks the tenth anniversary of Dhanush starrer ‘Velaiila Pattadhari’ also known as VIP which hit the big screens on July 18, 2014. Its release in theatres garnered a roaring response and admiration from fans. The movie has played a major role in becoming a turning point in Dhanush’s film career.

The action-drama written and directed by filmmaker Velraj was helmed as Dhanush’s 25th film. The movie starring Dhanush also portrays Amala Paul as the female lead, and Saranya Ponvanna and Samuthirakani played the parental role. Apart from them, Vivek, Hrishikesh, Surbhi and Amitash Pradhan appear in major roles.

The film, Velayilla Pattathari revolves around Raghuvaran, a jobless engineering graduate who is particular about landing a job in the field of his interest. The film gradually develops following Raghuvaran’s personal and emotional redemption after losing his mother.

The movie, with its peculiarity and a touch of Dhanush’s signature style, soared to the top. The scene in which Dhanush sincerely rants about his struggles from going to tuition to clearing arrears as he speaks about the difficulty in landing a job to the villain, was regarded to be a perfect mass shot. This rib-tickling scene where he spoke for three minutes without pausing to breathe, resonated with the audience.

When each hero has their way of defining their popularity, Dhanush’s un-mass-y mass vibe made him stand apart from others as he mostly remained as the modest boy next door with struggles whom the fans can relate to.
