70th National Film Awards: Rishab Shetty Best Actor; Nithya Menen, Manasi Parekh Best Actresses

The jury of the 70th edition of the National Film Awards announced the winners for the year 2022 today. Rishab Shetty won the best actor award in a leading role for Kantara (Kannada). The movie was written and directed by him. The film was screened at the United Nations office in Geneva have bolstered his candidacy.

Nithya Menen and Manasi Parekh won the best actress in a leading role Thiruchitrambalam (Tamil) and Kutch Express (Gujarati).

Directed by Mithran Jawahar, Thiruchitrambalam also stars Dhanush, Raashii Khanna, Prakash Raj and more.

Directed by Viral Shah, Kutch Express also stars Ratna Pathak Shah, Darsheel Safary and others. The film received 14 nominations at the 21st Transmedia Gujarati Awards.

The award was announced by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Sudhir Mishra, Priyanandanan TR, C Ajoy, NS Madhavan and Ann Augustine are the jury members.

Best Lyrics: Naushada Sadar Khan (Salaami) – Fouja (Haryanvi)

Best Choreography: Jani Master & Sathish Krishnan Thiruchitrambalam (Tamil)

Best Make-Up: Somnath Kundu Aparajito (The Undefeated) (Bengali)

Special Mention: Manoj Bajpayee (Gulmohar); Music Director Sanjay Salil Chowdhury (Kadhikan)

Initially scheduled to be held on May 3, 2023, the awards got postponed to October 2024 after experiencing delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
