
"Not On The Sets Of Kantara": Makers Clarify Junior Artist's Death Was Unrelated (Image-Instagram/ kapilarnold)
Hombale Films, the production house of Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1, has issued a heartfelt statement following the death of the junior artist MF Kapil. Addressing the incident, the makers issued a statement clarifying that the incident was unrelated to the film shoot.
On Tuesday, M.F. Kapil, a33-year-old budding actor from Kerala, swam in the Kollur Souparnika River of Karnataka, but due to strong currents, he was swept away and eventually drowned to death.

Dismissing reports of the incident occurring on the sets of Kantara, Hombale Films clarified that Kapil’s death occurred during his outing, outside the scope of any film-related activity.
The production house also disclosed that no filming was scheduled on that day. The makers also urged the public and media to avoid spreading unverified information linking the tragedy to the movie.
“We are deeply saddened by the untimely passing of junior artist M.F. Kapil. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. In light of recent discussions, we would like to respectfully clarify that the incident did not occur on the sets of Kantara. No filming was scheduled on that day and the unfortunate event took place during his personal engagement, outside the scope of any film-related activity. We sincerely request everyone to refrain from drawing unverified associations with the film or its crew,” the official statement issued by Hombale Films.

AICWA’s demand for justice
This statement of the makers was dropped in the wake of the All India Cine Workers Association’s (AICWA) demand for justice. On the same evening, AICWA issued a press release demanding an impartial investigation into the tragic death of the junior artist.
It also urged the Karnataka Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, to initiate a high-level investigation into the case to ensure justice for the deceased’s family. It also appealed to Hombale Films for a financial compensation of Rs 1 crore to Kapil’s bereaved family.

Kantara Chapter 1
Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, the upcoming period fantasy sequel Kantara Chapter 1 is set during the Kadamba dynasty of Banavasi. The film is produced on a grand scale by Hombale Films. Rishab Shetty will return to play the lead. This time, he will portray a Naga Sadhu with extraordinary abilities.
Kantara: Chapter 1 will first be released in Kannada. The film will also be dubbed in several other languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and English, to reach a wider audience.
