Actress Nushrratt Bharuccha Faces Backlash After Visiting Mahakal Temple Ahead Of New Year 2026

Bollywood actress Nushrratt Bharuccha has landed in a controversy after her recent visit to the Shri Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.

The actress attended the sacred Bhasma Aarti and was also honoured with a stole by the temple priests during her visit.

Nushrratt’s temple visit, which she reportedly undertook to seek blessings ahead of the New Year 2026, sparked a debate on social media due to her Muslim faith.

While many praised her for promoting religious harmony, a section of people questioned her decision to take part in Hindu rituals.

The criticism intensified after Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi, National President of the All India Muslim Jamaat, publicly condemned her actions.

According to him, performing puja and applying sandalwood at a Hindu temple is a “grave sin” under Islamic law. He stated that such actions go against the basic principles of Islam and said the actress should offer repentance and recite the Kalma.

Nushrratt Bharuccha has previously spoken openly about her liberal and inclusive approach to faith.

In an earlier interview, she said she finds peace in all places of worship, including temples, mosques, churches, and gurudwaras. She has also mentioned that she prays namaz regularly and carries her prayer mat while travelling.

“I believe there is one God, and there are many paths to reach Him. Wherever you find peace, you should go there,” the actress had said, emphasising her belief in spiritual freedom and personal connection with faith.

On the work front, Nushrratt was last seen in the silent film Ufff Yeh Siyapaa. She will next be seen in Bun Tikki, which is scheduled for release in 2026.Nushrratt Bharuccha Faces Backlash After Visiting Mahakal Temple Ahead of New Year 2026
