Veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan has opened up about his past separation from actress Lissy Lakshmi, revealing that “ego” and “monotony” during their long marriage played a key role in their decision to part ways.

In a recent interview with Filmfare, Priyadarshan reportedly said that after spending over three decades together, their relationship began to experience strain.

“During our 32 years of marriage, a kind of boredom and ego developed between us. It was a bit difficult, so we felt it was better to separate,” he told Filmfare.

The couple had separated nearly a decade ago, a decision that had surprised many fans in the Malayalam film industry.

However, Priyadarshan shared that time apart made them realise the importance of their bond. “After a few years, we realised that we missed each other. So we came back together—that’s all,” he added.

Recently, the two have confirmed that they are living together again, though they have reportedly decided not to remarry for now.

Their reunion had sparked speculation earlier when they were seen together at the wedding of director Sibi Malayil’s son. They were also spotted interacting warmly and sharing moments, fuelling rumours about their reconciliation.

Adding to the buzz, Malayalam superstar Mammootty was recently seen with the duo during a visit to Lissy’s studio in Chennai. Lissy also shared a photo with Mammootty and Priyadarshan on social media, further confirming their renewed closeness.

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Priyadarshan is gearing up for his upcoming film Bhooth Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar in the lead. The film marks their reunion after several years and is expected to be released soon.
