All We Imagine As Light, the Grand Prix-winning film directed by Payal Kapadia is finally making its debut in theaters in Kerala tomorrow, September 21. After receiving a worldwide acclamation at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, the film is set to hit the big screens in limited theaters. Actor Rana Daggubati’s production house Spirit Media has secured the exclusive rights to distribute the Malyalam-Hindi film across the country.

Titled Prabhayay Ninachathellam in Malayalam, the film gained significant attention with its legendary win. The film will expand to major cities followed by its initial limited releases. The film features a compelling cast including Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, and Chhaya Kadam.

Sharing the official announcement, actor Rana on his X handle wrote, “Thrilled to bring All We Imagine As Light (Prabhayay Ninachathellam) by Payal Kapadia, the 2024 Cannes Grand Prix winner, to India! Starting in Kochi this weekend, with more cities soon.”

The movie is an official Indo-French co-production between Chalk and Cheese Films from India and Petit Chaos from France. Indian producers Zico Maitra (Chalk and Cheese Films) and Ranabir Das (Another Birth) played a crucial role in the film’s creation, with Das also serving as the cinematographer.

The story revolves around Prabha (Kusruti), a nurse in Mumbai whose life spirals into chaos after receiving a rice cooker from her estranged husband.  Anu (played by Divya Prabha), Prabha’s roommate and colleague, is navigating her own struggles as she searches for privacy to spend time with her boyfriend in the crowded city. Parvati (Kadam), Prabha’s best friend and a widow, is being forced out of her home by relentless property developers.
