At the Hindi trailer launch event of his upcoming Barroz, Mohanlal shared some interesting tidbits about a variety of things, ranging from why he turned to direction, his special connection with December, and more. One other interesting trivia that the actor shared was about his relationship with director Priyadarshan.
The iconic actor-director duo has collaborated on over 45 films. Mohanlal shared, “Priyan’s first film was with me, and if he completes another three films, then it’ll be 100, and I’ll be doing [that] with him.”

The director’s first film with Mohanlal was Poochakkoru Mookkuthi (1984), a slapstick comedy, which turned out to be a surprise hit.
Laughing, he observed that it would be the first time in the world that a director’s debut film and his 100th film both star the same actor.
Speaking on Priyadarshan remaking the Malayalam hits in Hindi featuring Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal said, “You cannot compare actors. This is totally different. Even the costumes, characters, and body language… everything will be different. I’ve seen most of the films which Priyadarshan has remade. He (Akshay) is a brilliant actor. He’s punctual, and he’s a professional actor.”
“I am not a professional actor,” quipped Mohanlal, laughing.
When asked who have been the actor’s heroes and teachers that have helped him along the way in his acting journey, Mohanlal replied that there is no particular person. “I believe somebody is guiding us. It is an unknown energy… I just pray. “Please help me,” I say.”
The actor said that he believes that we are all guided by somebody. “So, I give respect to those spirits,” he added.
