Grrr Review: Kunchacko-Suraj Zoo Safari Is In Their Usual Territory

It is normal that the audience to expect a gigantic fun ride when Suraj Venjaramoodu and Kunchacko Boban come together in a movie that involves a lion inside a zoo. That expectation is spot on. Jay K’s Grrr is packed with two important elements that can make a comedy drama thrive: generic comedic scenes and intense drama. Scenarios emerging from the unexpected occurrences in the lives of protagonists and the romantic encounters have made Grrr a bankable and enjoyable movie.

In Grrr, Kunchacko and Suraj are in their usual territory: simple but effective situational comedy clubbed with moments the experienced actors can propel an even a loose script to its peak.

(Spoiler alert) The movie evolves around Kunchacko’s character (Rejimon Nadar) who is facing ‘deceit’ from his love interest as they decided to elope and get married. A devastated  Rejimon ended up inside a zoo in a lion’s company. Then the story enters into its main thread and the actual fun ride begins. The fun part gets elaborated when a zoo employee (Suraj’s character) also gets entangled inside the enclosure, as he was trying to rescue Rejimon, who entered the zoo in a drunken stage. Suraj’s character also has his own struggles in his life as his wife doubts a love lost after they married following a love affair.

Ultimately, as movie reaches its end things are easy and good for all and everyone involved bids adiu to Darshan the lion who became the reason for the ‘song and dance’ at the climax.

Though, sometimes the movie’s pace is affected by the usual tricks of surprise elements and saviour characters, the writing and direction is adept for a good comedy movie.

Timeline verdict: Grrr is good movie to watch with family and children. It has good comedy scenes and intense drama.
