Aamir Khan‘s directorial Taare Zameen Par is still one of the important films of the actor’s career. And the sequel to the film, Sitaare Zameen Par is yet an another film, which his fans are looking up to. Aamir Khan who is getting ready for the Oscar campaign of Laapataa Ladies, recently shared an update about the film and hints at what the film would offer.

The sequel was previously scheduled for a December 2024 release, but there were no updates from the film about it’s development. Recently, the Dangal actor, who attended the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah talked about his upcoming anticipated sequel.

Aamir revealed that the film is nearing it’s post production later this month and would be ready for its release in the middle of next year. So, fans get ready to enjoy the magic of Aamir Khan’s directorial on 2025.

Moreover, the actor also spilled some beans about the theme of this upcoming psychological drama. Aamir revealed even though, thematically it’s the sequel to Taare Zameen Par, a film that he directed some years ago, it’s  not a sequel in the sense that the characters do not continue from the previous one.

According to Aamir, this film is a fresh set of characters with completely fresh situations and plot. It will be saying the same things and a lot more. However, the core theme of Taare Zameen Par is taken forward to Sitaare Zameen Par.

About Taare Zameen Par, the Lagaan actor added, “Taare Zameen Par was about a child who has dyslexia. So it is a film that explored the themes of challenges of multiple intelligences, and how we are quick to judge people based on their written and reading IQ. Whereas people have multiple intelligences who do not get recognized often. All of us have difficulties and weakness, qualities that make us magical and unique. That theme is the theme that is taken forward in Sitaare Zameen Par,” quoted by Hindustan Times.

Aamir was honoured at the Red Sea Film Festival for his contribution to cinema. He is currently busy promoting and campaigning for Laapataa Ladies (retitled Lost Ladies) with director Kiran Rao. The film is India’s official submission for Oscars in the Best International Feature category.
